Keele Lawrence Dental Request a visit

Preventive care is everything done to stop decay and gum disease before they start — professional cleaning, assessment of the gums, and advice matched to how your mouth actually behaves rather than a leaflet.

What happens on the day

  1. Removal of plaque and tartar that brushing cannot reach.
  2. Assessment of gum health and any areas of early decay.
  3. Practical advice on the areas your cleaning is missing.
  4. A recommended interval for your next visit.

What it will cost

No fee for this treatment appears on this site, because the practice has not published one and inventing a number would be worse than leaving it out. What you can ask for is a written estimate with procedure codes before anything starts — how that works.

Common questions

Why does tartar have to be scraped off?

Plaque hardens within days, and once hardened a toothbrush will not shift it. It then holds bacteria against the gum line, which is what drives gum disease. Removing it mechanically is the only option.

My gums bleed when I brush. Should I brush less?

Usually the opposite. Bleeding generally signals inflammation from plaque, and it tends to settle once the area is cleaned properly. Raise it rather than backing off.

Do I need X-rays every time?

No. They are taken when there is a reason — to see between teeth or below the gum line — at an interval matched to your risk.
